Post-exams Beach Fun!!!

Hey guys,

It came up at the committee meeting that we are hoping to do some beach training and general fun after exams. At the moment we have a suggested date of heading to Bournemouth on Friday the 6th of February. It would be in the afternoon. This isn't intended to be the only time we're going to go but at the moment it's the best time with regards to travel arrangements etc. (We should have a minibus for this date.)

The sorts of things we would be looking to do are practice beach skills, (board rescues/tube rescues etc.), some general fitness training, and also to give people a taste for what beach competitions may involve.

Obviously it's the beginning of February so you are going to need a wetsuit and boots/gloves/hat. If you don't have any of this kit, I am told that it is possible to hire it from the university boat hard. I'm going to look into this to get some more details to help you out with this but I'm afraid that ultimately this would need to be done off your own back if you were wanting to come. Alternatively you may be interested in buying your own wetsuit. There are many pro's and con's to different styles of wetsuits but a fairly varied range may be found at http://www.wetsuitoutlet.co.uk/.
If you are seriously interested in buying a wetsuit, feel free to ask the committee as most of us have knowledge about them or if not can point you in the direction of someone that does!

Bottom line of all this is that what we organise for the training/transport etc. will depend on the amount of interest we have. So what I would like you to do is email me or put a post on the message board to tell me if you are interested in coming to the beach, (either on the 6th or at any other time). The sooner you do this the more time it gives us to get things organised and the better we can make the session!

Sorry for such a long message,
See you at training soon,
Tom
